Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been in business?

Icon Kitchens was established in May 2006 and is a Limited company registered in Scotland. In that time, we have done a wide variety of kitchen and bathroom installations throughout Fife. Please see the Photos and Comments pages to view our work and see what our customers thought of it.

What type of kitchens do you supply?

We have access to kitchens from many of the UK’s largest manufacturers covering contemporary and traditional styles across a wide price range. Whether you’re after the latest high gloss minimalist look, or you prefer something like a solid oak country style, we can supply a kitchen to meet your needs and budget.

What are your prices like?

While I can’t give you a one size fits all answer, we’re not as cheap as your friend in the pub who’ll do your kitchen as a ‘homer’ (but which may take several weeks to complete), but we’re not the most expensive in the area either.
We have previously installed very basic kitchens in rental properties where price was the biggest factor, but also high expenditure jobs that required walls to be built or removed, central heating boilers installed, fuseboxes renewed and whole rooms plastered.

What services do you offer?

We pride ourselves in being an all-trades installation service, so we cover everything you’re job could possibly need including:

bullet Electrical
bullet Plumbing
bullet Plastering
bullet Tiling
bullet Decorating
bullet Joinery
bullet Flooring

Icon Kitchens is happy to undertake as much or as little of the project as you need. For example, some of our customers have been quite happy to do some of the basic work themselves like removing the old kitchen units or painting and decorating. Of course, this helps to keep costs down and, if you’ve got the time and the skills, why not?

Other customers though are looking for a complete ‘start-to-finish’ job and in some cases have had us do their installations whilst they’ve been away enjoying the sun on holiday!

What are your payment terms?

If you would like to use our services, we’ll agree a start time for the work and arrange a deposit. Our terms are 1/3 of the total order value in advance, the next 1/3 on the first day of the job (when the goods are actually in your house) and the final 1/3 when the job is complete and you are satisfied. (‘Supply only’ orders must be paid for fully in advance). We’ve found this system works very well for both parties.

We had problems with a previous company who used several different teams to do the work which resulted in lengthy delays. How do you operate?

We’re familiar with this practise which some companies use but we don’t work that way. The same tradesman will be involved throughout the various stages of your job so there are consistent standards and the work is completed in the shortest time possible.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. We offer a 12 month guarantee on our work which covers the actual installation of the units and appliances (or bathroom suite). Appliances will also be covered by their own 12 month manufacturer’s warranty. In addition, the actual kitchen cabinets and doors are covered by a 5 year warranty against manufacturer defect.

How long do most jobs take to complete?

Typically, most kitchen and bathroom installations take 5-7 days. Usually starting on a Monday, your old kitchen or bathroom will be removed and any preparatory work done e.g. wiring for sockets and lighting, any gas or water pipework changes and then – if walls have had to be channelled – plastering.

We normally arrange for delivery of the kitchen units, worktops and appliances, or bathroom suite to arrive on this day too.

On the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the fitters will be on site to install the kitchen units or bathroom suite and if needed the electrician or plumber will be back to install appliances and the sink & tap.

If there are areas to be tiled this will usually be done on the Thursday/Friday with us looking to attach electrical faceplates, lighting and other finishing touches on the Friday.
Obviously this schedule will vary depending on the size of the project but for most regular installations this should give you a good idea of timescale.

Which areas do you cover?

We operate throughout Fife, so all areas in and around: Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, Cupar, St.Andrews, Rosyth, Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly, Leven.
